Today’s MGM Grand Provides Ultimate Las Vegas Experience

LAS VEGAS – MGM Grand is “Maximum Vegas.” With the culmination of a multi-year evolution, the AAA Four Diamond award-wining resort provides the best of everything visitors come to Las Vegas to find. From A-list entertainment to award-winning restaurants, high-energy nightlife to relaxing rejuvenation. Maximum energy. Maximum indulgence. Maximum escape. Today’s MGM Grand provides a “Maximum Vegas” experience all under one roof. MGM Grand prides itself not on a theme, but on delivering an unforgettable Las Vegas experience.

MGM Grand President Gamal Aziz said, “The MGM Grand of today is nothing like the resort that opened in 1993. We have come a long way in recent years. We’ve combined excitement with escapism and an exceptional level of service so when people stay at MGM Grand they feel special in a way they won’t feel anywhere else.”

The evolution began with the opening of NOBHILL in August 2001. Designed to recreate both the atmosphere and cuisine of San Francisco neighborhood restaurants, NOBHILL features the freshest products direct from the Bay Area.

MGM Grand introduced two additional restaurant offerings in 2002 – Pearl, Chinese modern with a contemporary presentation, and Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak, named “Best New Restaurant” in Las Vegas at the 2003 Epicurean Awards. The lobby bar, Zuri, a contemporary twist on a classic martini bar, was added in November 2002.

MGM Grand set the Las Vegas nightlife scene on fire in 2003 with the February introduction of Tabú – a chic, cosmopolitan ultra lounge symbolizing everything beautiful, sophisticated and innovative. Designed by the incomparable architect Jeffrey Beers, Tabú’s design is a distinct combination of modern fashion and refined style.

The evolution continued in 2003 with the additions of Fiamma Trattoria and Michael Mina’s SEABLUE. Fiamma brought famed restaurateur Stephen Hanson to Las Vegas for his first venture outside of New York. A casual version of New York's 3-star Fiamma Osteria, Fiamma Trattoria brings SoHo to The Strip with updated versions of traditional Italian specialties. Michael Mina’s SEABLUE, designed with the clean elements of water and stone, offers contemporary seafood prepared with a fun and innovative twist using Mediterranean seasonal produce.

In summer 2004, MGM Grand opened a station for the Las Vegas Monorail, the first privately funded and most technologically advanced public transportation system in the world. The $650 million Monorail connects eight major resorts along its four-mile route on the Las Vegas Strip.

The list of new offerings continued in summer 2004. The openings of Cristophe Salon – from the world-renowned celebrity hair stylist, with successful salons in Beverly Hills and New York City – and Tom Colicchio’s ‘wichcraft – an upscale sandwich and wine bar – were just the beginning. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill was redesigned, modernizing the traditional “bar and grill” concept with fun and approachable dining and Emeril Lagasse’s New Orleans Fish House stayed true to its original feel, but with an entirely new look. 32° – a frozen drink bar – has added a fun and unique twist to frozen cocktails. Diego combines the bold vibrancy of traditional Mexican cuisine with sophisticated sensibility for a thoroughly modern dining experience. Committed to bringing the most creative Japanese dining experience to Las Vegas, MGM Grand tapped into the finest culinary, beverage and design talent available to create Shibuya, which offers a full-spectrum Japanese menu and an unrivaled sake cellar.

As an industry leader of premier, luxury accommodations, MGM Grand unveiled SKYLOFTS in January 2005 as a rare and private sanctuary of sleek, elegant two-story accommodations high above the spectacle that is the Las Vegas Strip. The glamorous AAA Five Diamond SKYLOFTS offer discerning visitors the quintessential Loft environment harmonizing design, décor, ambiance, service and unparalleled vistas.

The following month MGM Grand premiered Cirque du Soleil’s KÁ, a show like no other production in the world. KÁ brings together astonishing acrobatic performances, the thrills and action of martial arts plus astonishing innovations in puppetry, multimedia and pyrotechnics to illustrate the nature of duality.

MGM Grand brought excitement to the gaming world with the March 2005 openings of its Race & Sports Book and smoke-free poker room. Adjacent to these two new venues, Centrifuge, a 77-seat bar featuring live entertainment and an innovative drink menu, offers guests a chance to be the center of attention. The bar comes alive nightly with a progressive music program and numerous freestyle and choreographed dance numbers.

Steps away from this exciting new area is West Wing, which also opened March 2005 and adds a new facet to MGM Grand’s dynamic resort experience. This 700-room, boutique-style wing of the resort reflects as much style as it does comfort. The West Wing Bar provides the perfect place to hang out, meet before an evening of dining and entertainment or wind down with a nightcap. The West Wing lobby features separate elevator access and a boutique.

The pièce de résistance of MGM Grand’s evolution came with the September 2005 openings of Joël Robuchon and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon. Chef Robuchon again creates the food that captured the world’s attention and earned him the title of “Chef of the Century” along with scores of accolades, honors and three Michelin stars. Joël Robuchon, a AAA Five Diamond and Mobile Five-Star award-winning fine dining establishment, and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, with its more casual experience, provide an exclusive opportunity to experience this chef’s formidable cooking talents in their fullest expression.

With all of these impressive additions to MGM Grand, there is still more. The Signature at MGM Grand, a luxurious non-smoking, non-gaming hotel, debuted in June 2006. A stylish addition to the MGM MIRAGE portfolio, the three beautiful and distinct towers of The Signature at MGM Grand provide guests with a serene retreat and an intimate setting where the focus is on personalized service. A private gated entrance, elegant lobby, 24-hour concierge and dedicated staff provide an unparalleled level of comfort, serenity and privacy.

Award-winning restaurants, innovative world-class entertainment, and high-energy nightlife combined with superior service, luxurious accommodations, a grand pool complex and a celebrated spa and salon provide one powerful package of energy, indulgence and escape. That’s a “Maximum Vegas” experience. That’s MGM Grand.
