The Diaoyutai State Guesthouse History
Diaoyutai is the ancient Chinese name for "fishing terrace". The Diaoyutai in Beijing can be traced back almost 800 years when Emperor Zhangzong of the Jin Dynasty fished at this location. Over a period of several dynasties many emperors have used the Diaoyutai as a place of solitude and quiet reflection, with each emperor adding edifices, terraces or towers around the seventy thousand square meters of lake.
Renowned for its beautiful landscaping and its tranquil environment the grounds of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse are home to two hundred different species of trees, ornamental gardens, bridges and pavilions. The four principles of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse Cuisine is food, service, environment and tableware. The elements, known at Diaoyutai as the "Four Beauties", provide the essential framework for every dish that is produced.
The environment at The Pearl Restaurant has been inspected by Chen Mingxia, Vice Director General of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, and several changes have been made to the décor in accordance with her desire to create harmony between the surroundings and the food. The Diaoyutai State Guesthouse tableware will be transported from Beijing to Las Vegas specifically for the festival.
